Type 4 consists of an unframed circle 23mm to 24mm in diameter. It has the town name around the top with "QUEENSLAND" at the base. There is a 3 line centre showing the time, day - month, and year. On many examples the time plugs were not inserted and the cancels may be confused with a Type 3c, however you can easily distinguish the difference by noting the the day and year lines do not sit central in a Type 4 as they do in a Type 3c. There are 2 sub-types

Type 4a
Type 4a has the year in 2 digits and was issued to offices opening from 1899 - 1900.
