~ Tribute to a fellow Racer ~

THAT MAN IS A SUCCESS
Who has lived well,
laughed often and loved much;
Who has gained the respect of
intelligent men and the love
of children;
Who has filled his niche and
accomplished his task;
Who leaves the world better than
he found it;
Who looked for the best in others
and gave the best he had.

February 5, 2006 our racing family lost Calvin Edwards. He was the father of Tony Edwards (pro4 #53), Gary Edwards (pro4 car owner #5-#51) and grandfather of Brett Edwards (pro4 #5) and Jeremy Edwards (pro4 #51).

Calvin was an avid racer in the late 60's and the pictures below reflect that. He was sponsored by Cy's Auto and Gordy's Mobil in Yucaipa. The Mobil station was owned by Calvin's father Gordon who is survived by him. (Gordon later passed the station on to Cal and then to Gary.) Calvin was in a bad accident at the Orange Show Speedway in 1975 which ended his stock car racing, but he continued his involvement in racing when he, Gary and Tony raced go carts from 1977 thru 1979. His involvement continuted in 1987 thru 1988 when he sponsored Gary in a pony stock at Orange Show Speedway. Over the years he remained involved by sponsoring and supporting his boys in all their racing venues. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Photo #6 was taken in April 1969, Photo #7 and #8 were taken at the old Irwindale speedway known as 605 Speedway, Photo #9 was from May 1968 at Orange Show Speedway, Photo #10 was taken at Craig Road Speedway, Las Vegas, Nv. November of 1968
