And Then There Was I

January 24th, 2005

Well, hello all you floating particles of matter in infinite space out there. Luckily I've managed to write again before next month! Well, there has been some developments in my life since last you read. To start off with, Nathan and I are no longer going out. We're still friends and hang out which is cool, but we're not dating anymore.

On a better note, I got a new phone last week! It's through a different service provider (T-Mobile instead of Virgin Mobile) but luckily my phone number is still the same. So give me a call sometime!

On to the next subject: recall what I wrote last time about work? Well, now it turns out both Becky and I are going to be doing the Imax. Oh, and we just found out thursday that the company is flying us both out to L.A. next month for a week for 'corporate training!' We're the only two from our theatre going, and our manager said he doesn't think there would be any more than 15 - 20 people there for the training in total. So it's pretty cool he picked us (although if you also recall my last post, both Becky and I were surprised he chose her. But she rightfully deserves to go). The week we'll be down there we'll be getting paid a bit more than we normally make. Then basically what it means to be a corporate trainer, is that whenever they open a new theatre they send several corporate trainers there to train the new staff for a week or whatever. Whenever we're sent to do this I know we get paid more money, but it remains to be seen if the two of us will be getting a permanent raise or not. We should get one damnit. He picks the two of us because we're supposedly the best supervisors he has. Yet I know of two supervisors that get paid more than us - one of them by almost a full two dollars an hour more. And I've been working there longer than this person. Surely Becky and I deserve equal if not greater pay than that!? Alas, I highly doubt we'll be getting a raise that high, if any at all. But like I said, time will tell. My wrists hurt.

I'm listening to Franz Ferdinand right now - 'tis a supremely keen band from Scotland. You should all check them out right now. A really cool movie of late I've seen is called Casshern. It's a really amazing Japanese film. You can view the trailer for it here. You can

click on the image above to see more images from Casshern. The film is absolutely amazing visually, and has a really interesting story to it and great acting. Of course there are some awfully odd things that happen that probably make perfect sense in Japanese culture that you have to overlook, but it's a very good movie. Once again, I'll eventually do a review of it, but I wanted to let people hear about it to get the word around about this film.

What else is new? Oh, I got drunk for the first time a few weeks ago. I wasn't planning on getting drunk, but the bartender thought I was good looking (he wasn't too shabby himself) and so he kept giving me drinks for free and I kept drinking them. I was with Michael and Becky - he gave Michael free drinks too, and offered Becky but she smartly declined seeing as she was our drive. I got super talkative, and eventually had to sit down because I was incapable of keeping my balance. Becky said Michael and I are both amusing when we're drunk. It was interesting; definitely not something I'll do very often, but maybe every now and then. Especially if it's free.

Oh, another thing that probably nobody else will give a rats ass about but I'm going to tell you anyways is I got a new backpack! 'tis quite a nice new backpack, it is. I really like it. Probably spent a bit too much money on it, but it's quite spiffy. Oh, and it's made by the makers of the swiss army knife and made out of ballistic and bullet proof stuff, so I imagine it'll last me quite a while. Ya. And I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow (actually today - I'm writing this at one in the morning, so when I wake up it'll still be today) and dying it again. I've been putting red highlights in it lately. Then later tonight I'm meeting up with Nathan and we're going to go out to The Cafe, a club in San Francisco. Michael will probably be there too, but I'm not sure because I haven't been able to get a hold of him for a while now. Anyhow, that just about sums up the last several weeks of my life. Until next time!
