Scotland's Three Tenors - CALEDON

Caledon, Scotland's 3 Tenors Alan Beck , Jamie MacDougall , and Ivan Sharpe with Musical Director Michael Barnett

Scotland's very own "Three Tenors" have taken North America, New Zealand , and Australia by storm in the last few years ...and were last here in Australia performing at The Sydney Opera House with the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra in 2004 during a Sell Out National Tour.
Caledon is equally at home whether inspiring the 55,000 soccer crowd at Hampden Park with a stirring new version of Flower of Scotland, or on the stage of any world-famous Concert Stage, singing to a packed auditorium of music lovers. The group had a sensational first year which included highlights such as performing in front of Her Majesty The Queen at the opening of the Scottish Parliament and for His Excellency, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan at the inaugural Robert Burns Memorial Lecture at the United Nations Headquarters in New York a s well as closing Scotland's largest rock and pop festival, T - in the Park

Archie Andrews - Famous Vent Doll ..Sells for £34,000

Like a lot of young kids in the fifties in the UK ...I grew up with listening to great radio shows like "Round the Horne" "Hancoks Half Hour" and of course "Educating Archie" a radio show featuring Peter Brough and his doll Archie Andrews. Along with special quests each week the show had a very big listening audience of people around The British Isles.

A private collector has paid £34,000 for the original Archie Andrews dummy used by ventriloquist Peter Brough in the 1950s radio show, Educating Archie.
...The show had a fan club of 250,000 and attracted 15m listeners at its peak. The dummy sold for more than double the £15,000 estimate at Taunton auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt on Tuesday, where it was sold by Brough's family.
Buyer Colin Burnett-Dick said he planned to loan the doll to museums so it could be accessible to the public.

Mr Burnett-Dick from Blackboys, East Sussex, told BBC News Online: "It was worth it. There is so much history attached to him. I remember him from my childhood. "There was lots of dummies but he was probably the most significant. We didn't want him to go overseas."

Peter Brough's family decided to put the 4ft-high, blazer-wearing dummy up for auction following his death in 1999. It had been stowed away in a suitcase for several years, having survived being kidnapped and stolen from a car.

Glasgow Panto - in Full Swing !!

The Christmas Pantomime season is getting into full swing in Glasgow with some traditional and some more modern shows to banish the winter blues.
"Charlotte's Web" at the Citizens Theatre is based on a story by E B White about an exceptional pig who is in peril and is saved by the animals who rally round.
"Cinderella" at the King's Theatre is a more traditional story, though the ugly sisters are called Griselda and Nessie and Cinder's father is Baron Hardup. Panto favourites Gerard Kelly (pictured above) and Jonathan Watson ensure that there's plenty of laughter.
The Tron Theatre tells the story of "Weans in the Wood" which is a hilarious reworking of the traditional tale with a Scottish flavour. The "weans" end up deep in Funnocks Fondant Fancy Factory - any relationship to the local makers of Tunnocks Caramel Wafers is purely coincidental
