HAIR PINS
So what is cold porcelain clay, you ask???? Cold Porcelain is a clay/paste that originated in Argentina (porcelaina fria). It's similar to gumpaste used in cake decorating, however, is not edible. Using it for modelling is growing in popularity, and is now available commercially, especially in England. It is an air-drying clay, (rather than needing to be kiln fired) that dries with a porcelain-like appearance, and give such a life like appearance to flowers, you can almost smell them. It has a much finer finish than other clays, such as the popular polymer clays. It is durable with careful handling, as any porcelain. Cold Porcelain items should be protected from water, as they may or may not have a water-barrier sealant applied. Below are some photos of some miniature floral arrangements that I first did experimenting with this new medium. Very tiny, life-like details. You can find quite a bit about Cold Porcelain by running a Google search. Or if you would like further information, let me know.
