Living the Frugal Life
Learning to Simplify
There were not many ways for me to cut expenses. I was already pretty good at shopping the thrift stores yard sales and Ebay for things like kids clothes. Most of our other expenses were fixed, rent, utilities and things I couldn't really cut back on. Of course everything I bought was out of necessity, there was no room for wasting even a dollar on something I didn't need.
I found a wonderful website called Hillbilly Housewife that gave lots of great tips for cooking from scratch. I searched for forums and websites to give me ideas on how to live on practically nothing. It wasn't easy. I spent a lot of time in prayer.
I wanted to share my story because I know that we are not the only family struggling just to get from day to another. I have learned to bake and cook all sorts of things to keep my family fed and still be able to afford groceries each month. I've learned about frugal cleaning with things you probably already have in your kitchen. I learned to make beaded bracelets and bath salts to give as gifts during the holidays. Mostly I have learned no matter how hard it gets, don't give up. I'm still trying every day to make things better. I have a lot of responsibilities with a housefull of kids and a husband who is completely dependant on me. I pray that whatever your struggle is, you will overcome it. Please pray for us too.
